PARADISE - History of the Making

Peter Henessy of the film production company Sunset International Ltd. of Guernsey/England, initiates to produce a film about Patricia Paradise. The subject is to be her fascinating and varied life, from her childhood in poverty to her rocket-like career as singer, through to her premature retirement.

Screenwriter and director, Roger Steinmann, and the movie producer, Markus Imthurn, are commissioned to make the film in Hollywood, with Roger Steinmann and Bruno Koller executive producing. The script is written to draw on wellknown biographical notes and is "based on the life of Patricia Paradise".

A stellar cast is immediately attracted to the unusual and intriguing screenplay: A lovely newcomer, Jolie Jackunas, takes on the role of Patricia; and Edward Albert ("Butterflies are free" with Goldie Hawn), winner of two Golden Globes, the role of Francis. Edward's real-life father, Eddie Albert ("Roman Holiday" with Audrey Hepburn), who has himself been twice nominated for Oscars, plays the role of his father in the film. PARADISE marks the first time in both long film career, that a filmmaker was able to convince them to play opposite each other in a movie. Ray Walston ("Kiss me stupid" with Dean Martin), who has won two Emmies and is everyone's "Favorite Martian", plays Simon.

Shooting begins in Hollywood and moves on to Las Vegas. The shooting work is brutally interrupted by the tragic death of Mr. Walston. The material shot with the legendary actor Walston is by far not sufficient and brings therefore the whole film production to an tragic stop. The production was interrupted until the insurance gave green light to restart the production.

The filmmakers were able to attract superstar Julia Roberts to read the script. Although Ms. Roberts is interested to play Patricia Paradise, her schedule seems to be too overloaded to accept this part in the near future. The filmmakers are anxious the move the project ahead and were approaching other stars such as Jodie Foster, Sandra Bullock and Cameron Diaz as well as other stars for the other
parts.
