Ray Walston's devoted Billy Wilder note
The filmmakers approached veteran actor Ray Walston on the occasion of the recommendation by legendary director Billy Wilder. Billy has made two films with Ray: 'The Apartment' (1960), what was highest acclaimed, winning the Academy Award for best picture, and 'Kiss me Stupid' (1964), what was Ray's only starring role in his long film career (in TV, of course, he was starring a lot, such as 'Favorite Martian').
Realizing that Billy still had such high praise for him, Ray wrote this devoted note to Wilder-protegée Roger Steinmann shortly before his death what eventually caused the stop of the production of PARADISE.

Ray Walston's last note
The production of PARADISE was closing down for the Christmas holiday on December 21, 2000. During this interruption, "Simon"-character Ray Walston was longing to come back to work on the set of PARADISE scheduled on January 8, 2001. With a handwritten note, he expressed his feelings to his "favorite director", as he used to call Roger Steinmann. Sadly and a shock for everybody, only a few days later, on January 1, 2001, he died. Therefore, this note remains the last one to any movie director by the legendary veteran actor, who's five-decade career ended with the unfinished part of Simon, to be viewed at the trailer on this site.
